Fabricly Supplier FAQ

How does Fabricly work?

Fabricly is a new way for apparel and accessories manufacturers, along with suppliers of fabric and trims, to find new business. You find new customers on Fabricly by browsing RFQs and placing bids on them. Brands and fashion designers put up their requirements and you can give them a quote of how much the work would be.

Alternatively, buyers can invite you to participate in private RFQs.

What is an RFQ?

RFQ stands for Request for Quotes. It is an easy and structured way for buyers to set out their requirements and gather quotes from suppliers.

The main benefit is that you can quickly discover new business and get in touch with customers that are looking for work in your field of expertise. First, a buyer sets out a specification of what they need. You can then place bids on the work.

Is this just a way to press down my prices?

No. Because Fabricly is focused on quality apparel and textile suppliers price is not the only factor determining whether you win a contract.

You can improve your chances of winning new contracts by establishing a track record and filling in your profile with more detail.

Do other suppliers see my quotes?

Other suppliers see that you have submitted a quote. They do not see details of that quote, such your message to the buyer and quoted price. This is to discourage aggressive undercutting just to win contracts.

You are most likely to win contracts if you compete on overall value - price, quality and good communication with buyers are important factors.

How is Fabricly different from a directory?

By adding structure to the process of getting new business Fabricly gives you much better access to buyers. You can immediately see what buyers are looking for and be proactive about offering them your services.

This is a much more effective approach than a directory, where you might pay to be listed, but have to wait for buyers to find you.

What if I want to strike up a long-term business relationship with a buyer?

You are encouraged to build ongoing relationships with the buyers you meet on Fabricly.

Because Fabricly does not work on a commission basis, we recommend that you ask buyers to run future contracts through the system so that you have the opportunity to log more transactions. This will improve your rating and boost your chances of winning new business.
